Google Classroom
We will be using Google Classroom for a lot of assignments this year.
It will be extremely beneficial if students can access Google Classroom from home. If students do not have access to technology from home, accommodations will be made so that they can utilize technology in the classroom.
Google classroom can be accessed from all devices that have access to the Internet.
On a computer or a Chromebook, go to Google.com and sign in with your “fake” student email address. The student’s login is their username@gtps.k12.nj.us The student’s password is their lunchcode@gtps This information can be found on the inside front cover of their reading notebooks and the students should have it memorized.
Important! Google logins sometimes default to name@gmail.com. You must change the extension to @gtps.k12.nj.us Almost all children that have trouble logging in from home make this mistake. They are used to school chromebooks that default to @gtps.k12.nj.us and they don’t have to type that in at school.
If you use a device that has apps, you will need to download Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive. They are all free. Enter the username and passwords as indicated above.
Students should only access their work through Google Classroom. They should never access their work through Docs, Sheets, Slides, or Drive. If they do they may create a duplicate document and they won’t be able to turn it in properly.
